We are excited about two new projects to leverage molecular genetics towards the discovery of new drugs for the treatment of Cryptosporidiosis. We are grateful to the Wellcome Trust and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundations for their support.
Dr. Sumiti Vinayak won award for outstanding oral presentation at the 2016 Molecular Parasitology Meeting at the MBL in Woods Hole. As part of the prize and with generous support from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund Sumiti was invited to present her work on Cryptosporidium genetics at the annual meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene in Philadelphia.
26th Molecular Parasitology Meeting at the MBL in Woods Hole. Dr. Sumiti Vinyak speaks about her work on Cryptosporidium genetics and introduces her new in vivo drug screening model. Justin Fellows presents his discovery of a new ubiquitin-like protein that is essential for import of proteins into the apicoplast.
Professor Jan Slapeta from the Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney in Australia arrives for a sabbatical in the lab. Jan is an expert in the evolution and biology of protists and he will focus his time in Athens on Cryptosporidium. Welcome to Jan and Ivetta!
